Hello, thanks for stopping by
This site was originally created to publish architecture research and projects, but has since expanded to include thinking on financial services, technology, and entrepreneurship.
Work // management consulting
I spend my week working in management consulting in the financial services industry. Most of what I do is involved with complex technology transformation, and the design and implementation of new business and technology operating models for Tier 1 retail and investment banks.
Prior to this I worked on marketing, strategy, communications, and digital projects for some of the largest technology companies in the world including Microsoft, Intel, Hewlett Packard, and Nokia. As a teenager I built several startups in media and technology.
There is a pretty comprehensive employment history on my LinkedIn profile, if you’re interested.
Life // adventures
Away from my desk I bag Munros, explore London’s restaurants, play tennis, enjoy the theatre, and visit museums. Further away from my desk I can often be found on a weekend city break in Europe, with the occasional tropical adventure thrown in for good measure.
Study // architecture and urbanism
During a former life, I did an architecture degree – both a bachelor’s and master’s. My master’s thesis looked at the morphology of urban blocks; developing a system, through enumerating key data sets, for designing hyper-rational adaptable urban blocks. Our research unit, working with Dundee City Council, completed work focused on the £1 billion Dundee waterfront regeneration project, where I led a study on the economic viability of the proposals.
Since then I’ve worked on architecture projects for private and commercial clients, and occasionally design for competitions. In 2014 I created an architecture travel website, where I am still the Editor. We profile buildings around the world, to visit on your travels, that have specific historic significance, architectural uniqueness, or cultural interest.
